Frank John Orris Jr., 87 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Granite Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.

Frank was born on February 13, 1931 in Granite City; the son of the late Frank J. and Catherine (Sabo) Orris Sr. Frank was a logistics manager for the United States Army Troop Support Readiness Command. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. Frank was a member of the Granite City Elks Lodge # 1063, where he received the “Elk of the Year” award; was a member of the Granite City Knights of Columbus Council # 1098; St. Mary’s Boosters and the St. Elizabeth Men’s Club. Frank was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and the family is requesting all visitors and friends to wear their Cardinals gear or wear red when attending his visitation and funeral. Most of all Frank loved his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

Frank is survived by and will be missed by his children; Frank J. (Patty) Orris III of Granite City, IL, Deanna (Fred) Porterfield of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Benjamin (Sara) Orris, Stacy Orris, Lauren (Andrew) Heim, Allison (Daniel) Ramsey; great-granddaughter, Sophie Orris; sister Kathy Dohnal and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife; Barbara (Planitz) Orris and his brother-in-law, Edward Dohnal.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life, services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City with Fr. Zachary Edgar officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Cardinals Care.
