George Valicoff, age 91, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Mari de Villa Senior Living, Town and Country, MO. George was born on November 15, 1926 in Madison, IL, a son of the late James J. Valicoff Sr. and Helen (Jankowski) Valicoff.
George was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country. On September 20, 1947, George married Pauline Donley, the love of his life and Pauline passed away on January 29, 2012, after sixty-five years of marriage. George and Pauline owned and operated Alright Cleaners in Granite City, IL, for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Granite City, IL. George loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Freed; and by his brother, James Valicoff Jr.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Valerie (Larry) Sidener of St. Louis, MO and Diane (Steve) Schneider of O’Fallon, MO; proud grandfather to Cortney Sidener, Tyler Sidener and Sarah Schneider; proud great-grandfather to Kingston Wintergate, Bella Ruebsam, Nolen Wilson and Clayton Wilson; extended family and many friends.
In following George’s wishes he will be cremated with a burial to follow at a later date at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
