Charles Elbert John Luehmann, age 89, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, IL. Charles was born on February 12, 1929 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Charles Henry Luehmann and Catherine Carrie (Dickman) Luehmann.
Charles was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. Charles enjoyed working and he worked hard as a farmer his entire life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he adored. Charles will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Earl Luehmann and Gloria Mullen, and his beloved grandson, Jonathan Charles Nolan.
He is survived by his wife, Laura (Bogavich) Luehmann of Granite City, IL, and his loving children, Lorraine Luehmann of Hamel, IL, Lisa Puglise of Nashville, TN, Charles (Laura) Luehmann of Granite City, IL. Tina Luehmann of Granite City, IL and Kurt (Joanna) Luehmann of Troy, IL; proud grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, with full military honors conducted by the United States Army.
