Bruce Charles Jarnagin, 69, of Maryville, Illinois passed away at his home on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

He was born November 1, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Charles and Margie (Vukelich) Jarnagin.

He was married and is survived by Janice M. (Gasper) Jarnagin. They were wed on August 30th, 1986 in Webster Groves, Missouri.

A United States Army veteran, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He became a teacher and had a love for art, history and theology. He retired from Emerson Electric in St. Louis, Missouri after 22 years of dedicated service as a dispatcher. He loved his days of playing golf with friends and family, fishing with his brothers and sons and cooking for his family, especially barbeque! He was an avid bird spotter, watching and feeding the birds daily. A devout fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he listened to the game on the radio and enjoyed watching all sports, especially football. He loved sci-fi movies, action films and was an admirer of the actor Bruce Campbell. He has been a longtime dog lover and owner throughout his life. His most precious times were the ones shared with his wife and sons, family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife of 31 years, he is survived by a son, Stephen Jarnagin of Maryville; one sister, Gail Sangster of Valparaiso, Indiana; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Melissa Jarnagin of Collinsville, Illinois; Randy and Mary Jarnagin of Affton, Missouri and Greg and Jolene Jarnagin of Foristell, Missouri; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Ron Ramlow of Ballwin, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
