Erma Lee Rash, age 93, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at her home, with her loving family by her side. Erma was born on September 23, 1923 in Tulsa, OK, a daughter of the late Harry A. Briggs and Myrtle F. (Hughes) Briggs.
On June 28, 1947, Erma married Travis L. Rash, the love of her life, in Madison, IL. Travis passed away on December 17, 2003. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Granite City, IL. Erma was family oriented and was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking; however, she was famous for her jellies and cookies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Erma loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry and Harold “Gene” Briggs; sister, Isla Mae Williams; son-in-law, Leonard Sabol; brother-in-law, Donald Williams; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Briggs and Pauline Briggs; and by one grandson, Jeffrey Sabol.
She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen (George) Maza of Mt. Prospect, IL, Linda Sabol of Granite City, IL, Judy (Brian) Lee of Edwardsville, IL and Richard (Dinna) Rash of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to Christopher Sabol, Derek (Katie) Huffer, Todd (Amy) Huffer, Laura (Travis) Revelle, Lisa (Travis) Catron, Rebecca (Ryan Kennedy) Lee, Andrew Lee and Ryan Rash; proud great-grandmother to Jackson Sabol, Lexington Sabol, Emerson Huffer, Liam Huffer, Tyler Huffer, Jude Revelle, Lennon Revelle and Olivia Catron; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Penny Barber officiating. Erma will be laid to rest next to Travis at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Granite City A.P.A. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
