Patricia A. Thomas, 92, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born April 16, 1925 in Springfield, Illinois, a daughter of the late Jeremiah “Jerry” and Bridget (Greaney) Crean.
She retired from Dillards in Fairview Heights after 25 years of dedicated service as a sales clerk. She also worked several years as a teacher’s aide with Maryville School.
Patricia was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and active with the yearly picnic. She was also active with Holy Family Church Young at Heart, many years with Sacred Heart Parish Mother’s Club and was a member of Senior Circle.
She enjoyed her days of traveling and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Geri and Alex Markobrada of Woodstock, Georgia, Karen Koesterer of Granite City, Linda Thomas of Granite City and Noreen and Earl Fanning of Granite City; six grandchildren and spouses, Todd and Brooke Smallie, Brent Smallie, Laurie Neukam, Kelly and Jon Bingheim, Sarah Mueller and Amy Finazzo; eight great grandchildren, Gwyneth, Ethan, Connor, Abigail, Brooke, Taylor, Sicily and Laken; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, David E. Thomas and a daughter, Nancy Jean Thomas.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 with Father Zachary Edgar as celebrant.
Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or masses and may be accepted at the funeral home.
