Charles E. Pulley, age 87, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab Center, Granite City, IL. Charles was born on June 8, 1930 in Stewart County, TN, a son of the late James Richard Pulley and Daisy May (Phillips) Pulley.
Charles had retired from Jennison Wright Corporation as a steam engineer, retiring after thirty-nine years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and was president of the union for twenty-five years. Charles loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, James, Herman, Clerd, Hester, Leonard, Clarence, Johnny, Mary, Myrtle, Lea and Irene; and by one grandson, Charles David Pulley.
Charles is survived by his loving children, Linda (Earl) Lovejoy of Bethalto, IL, Charles Pulley of Mesquite, TX, Patricia (John) Steward of Granite City, IL and Lisa Pulley of Park Hill, MO; proud grandfather to Michael (Kristina) Pulley of Brighton, IL, Jonathan (Jamie) Steward of Granite City, IL, Lindsay (Charles) Owens of Granite City, IL, April (Trenton) Foiles of Wood River, IL, Craig (Monica) Lovejoy of Little Rock, AR, Casey (Chris) Campbell of O’Fallon, MO, Jamie May, Crystal May and Bobby May all of Mena, AR; proud grandfather to twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Greg Dickerman officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to American Lung Association and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
