Almeda R. Heck, age 92, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at University Nursing and Rehab Center, Edwardsville, IL. Almeda was born on November 12, 1924 in Vandalia, MO, a daughter of the late Floyd and Sarah (Callan) Spencer.
On May 8, 1946, Almeda married Orville Heck, the love of her life at Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, IL. Orville passed away on September 18, 1989. Almeda was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing embroideries on quilts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Almeda loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Almeda was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Perry; and by four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her loving children, Jerry Heck of Maryville, IL, Donna Perry of Glen Carbon, IL and Vicky (George "Eddie") Ingraham of Collinsville, IL; dear sister, Shirley (Jimmy) Landrum of Riverside, CA; proud grandmother to Steve Perry, Jennifer (Chadd) Mayle, Hannah Perry, Jessica (Chris) Chappel and Tracey (Joe) Samson; proud great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL, with Pastor Craig Frazier officiating. Almeda will be laid to rest next to Orville at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
