Obituary

Shirley Mae Morgan, age 61, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Willow Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Belleville, IL. Shirley was born on December 12, 1955 in East St. Louis, IL.

Shirley was a faithful member of Word of Life Tabernacle Church in Granite City, IL. She enjoyed going to church, reading her bible and other religious books, she also enjoyed crocheting and shopping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Shirley loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Morgan; one daughter, Tonia Marie Whitehead; one grandson, Ethan Allen; mother, Mary Annetta (Fisher) Griffin, stepmother, Mary Hall; one sister, Kay Watts; and by two brothers, Kevin Marret and Jerry Hall.

Shirley is survived by her loving children, Carrie Whitehead of St. Charles, MO, Jamie (Henry) Williams of Granite City, IL and David Morgan of Granite City, IL; dear father and stepmother, Bobby and Marlene Hall of Collinsville, IL; proud grandmother to Brielle Hickman, Ryan Williams and Anthony Williams; dear siblings, Mary Jane Hall-Davis of Glen Carbon, IL, Sandy Boatright of Troy, IL, Renee Pauley of South Roxana, IL, Lisa Pauley of South Roxana, IL, Tim Marret of Mt. Vernon, IN, Richard Hall of Troy, IL and Debbie Williams of Troy, IL; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, with Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. Interment will be in Jeffferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Memorial donations may be given to the family to start a trust fund for Shirley's grandchildren and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
