John "Jack" Hennrich, 89, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at DeGreef Hospice House in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born April 16, 1928 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late Hubert and Grace (McGee) Hennrich.
He married Marian F. (Alessandrelli) Hennrich on November 25, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and she passed away on April 24, 2007.
He retired as a meat cutter and had many years of service in several grocery stores throughout the local area.
He proudly served his country with the United States Navy. He was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was raised in the Sacred Heart Parish. He was also a member of Senior Circle, Eagles Aerie #1126 and the Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities Council #1098 and enjoyed his days of traveling and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ken Janish of Leawood, Kansas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan Hennrich of Maryville and Tom and Terri Hennrich of St. Louis; four grandchildren and spouses, Katie and Ryan Burke, Laura Hennrich, Andy and Jessica Janish and Jennifer and Gary Carmack; five great grandchildren, Avery, Cason, Marian, Emma and Max; special friend, Marilyn Zeller of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant.
Burial with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
