Everett Euel Francis, age 82, of New Douglas, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his home. Everett was born on February 6, 1935 in Annapolis, MO, a son of the late Albert and Irene (Rumburg) Francis.
Everett was a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country. He had worked for General Motors in the Quality Control Department, retiring in 1985 after many years of dedicated service. Everett enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and putting puzzles together. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Everett loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his first wife, Eugenia Francis, who passed away on April 7, 1981; two sisters, Esther Francis and Juanita Farlee; five brothers, Chester, Willis, Wilburn, Charles and Arthur Francis.
Survived by his devoted wife, Carol (Bennett) Francis of New Douglas, IL; loving children, Becky (Jim) Hileman of Granite City, IL, Everett Francis II of Wilsonville, IL, Michael Francis of Granite City, IL, Cathy Weldon of Florida and Sue (Chris) Nordyke of Livingston, IL; brothers, Benjamin Francis of Florida and Lawrence (Phyllis) Francis of Rockford, IL; sister, Hazel Kearby of Rockford, IL; ten grandchildren, James, Jason, Justin, Ashley, Kristina, Samantha, Michelle, Clint, Christina and Terry; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Memorial donations may be given to the family and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
