Peggy Lou Patterson, 82 of Glen Carbon passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born on December 14, 1934 in West Plains, MO; the daughter of the late I.K. and Mabel (Weatherly) McDowell. Peggy was an administrative assistant for the First National Bank of Granite City, retiring in 2000. She was a faithful member of West 22nd Street Baptist Church in Granite City and gave to the metro area humane society. In her free time she enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and taking care of her beloved cat, Katie. But most of all, Peggy loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Peggy will be remembered for her devotion to her family and all the special times they shared together.
Peggy is survived by and will be missed by her children; Galen Patterson of Collinsville, IL, Dennis (Judy) Patterson of Collinsville, IL, David Hollis of Florida, John (Tina) Patterson of Granite City, IL, Dale (Vonny) Patterson of Ventura, CA, Winnie Breuer of Greenville, IL, Debbie (Jim) Jones of Glen Carbon, IL, Lynn Vincent of Clearwater, FL; her sister, Linda Charley of Oshkosh, WI; her grandchildren, Dustin, Christopher, Scott, Sean, Calista, Cassandra, Jamie, J.J., David, Danielle, Ashley, Gabrielle, Renee, Jessica, John, Jennifer; her great-grandchildren, Austin, Cam, Eliana, Ciara, Julio, Bella, Hannah, Riley, Vanessa, Tracey, Akira, Marcella, John, Abigail, Aaliyah, Tamyra, Amya, Kali, Shawn, Aly, Xander, Xaiden.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband; Clifton D. Patterson, whom she married in January, 1964.
In celebration of Peggy's life, friends may call on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Keith Braddock officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society.
