Gene Peters, 59, of Granite City, Illinois and formerly of St. Louis, Missouri passed away at 7:38 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born December 2, 1957 in Bremerton, Washington, a son of the late Robert and Gwen (Brown) Peters.
He married Kimberly Ann (Albers) Peters on January 10, 1976 in St. Louis and she survives.
Gene worked at Frieze Harley Davidson in Shiloh with 6 six years of dedicated service as a certified Harley Davidson mechanic.
He loved riding and fixing motorcycles, enjoyed his days of fishing and was a sports enthusiast always cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy Stephen and Heidi Peters of St. Charles, Missouri and Joshua Paul and Colleen Peters of Mitchell, Illinois; three grandchildren, Dallas Leigh, Phoenix Jalen and Evan Joshua Peters; two brothers, David and Brian Peters of Imperial, Missouri; many special brothers-in-laws; sisters-in-laws; nieces; nephews; other extended family and many dear friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation and may be accepted at the funeral home.
