Gerald L. "Jerry" Gann, 70, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. He was born July 7, 1941 in Granite City, a son of Inis Lorene (Bolton) Gann of Edwardsville and the late Arthur Hershel Gann. He married Cheryl A. (White) Gann on February 17, 1968 in Redlands, California and she survives.
He retired from Granite City Steel in 2001 after 41 years of dedicated service. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and operator of Alpha 21 Electronics in Granite City and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was a also a member of the Eagles Aerie #1126, Elks Lodge and the Jaycees where he had served as a past president and state officer. He enjoyed his days of taking family vacations, golfing and fishing and will be remembered for the love of his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of 44 years and his mother, he is survived by one son, Garrin Bryce Gann of Granite City; one daughter and son-in-law, Jena LeeAnn and Jeremy Walter of Eldred, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Victoria Jade Gann, Noah Reed Walter, Riley James Walter and Logan Bryce Walter; many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of life, visitation will be at the First Assembly of God Church, 2317 Madison Avenue in Granite City on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Reverend Kevin Peterson and Reverend Rich Smallie officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
