Beulah J. "Neva" Eden, 78, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at 10:38 p.m on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at her home. She was born December 11, 1933 in Williamsville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Dave and Della (Sisco) Markhan. She married John C. Eden in East St. Louis and they had 58 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 14, 2008.
She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends and her special devotion to her dog, Arby.
She enjoyed her days of reading, working crossword puzzles and knitting.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Fonda Eden of Granite City; two daughters, Carol Deanna Schaad of Wooster, Ohio and Christina Simpkins of Glen Carbon; five grandchildren, Lorraine Eden, John Cole Eden, Rachel Elizabeth Simpkins, Eugene Schaad and John and Heidi Schaad; two great granddaughters, Savannah Lynn Schaad and Sierah Alexis; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Paul Schaad; one brother, Mark Markhan and two sisters, Virginia Roark and Ann Frazier.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to a animal shelter of your choice or to SSM Hospice and may be accepted at the funeral home.
