Wynona June Emerson, 92, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born May 17, 1925 in Tyrone Township, Illinois, the daughter of the late Grover Thomas and Beulah Frances (Petit) Eickelman.
She married Harold Kenneth Emerson on April 23, 1945 in Christopher, Illinois and he passed away on January 13, 1990.
She was a dedicated and loving homemaker. She had also worked babysitting at Bowl Land in Granite City and also worked in laundry services at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City for several years. She was a member of Word of Life Tabernacle in Granite City and cherished her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Lou and Harold Fisher of Alma, Arkansas and Virginia Faye Gibson of Granite City; nine grandchildren, Tamra Lynn Fisher, Daniel Lee Fisher, Rodney Lee Fisher, Jason Lee Fisher, Trevor Lee Fisher, Michelle Lynn Needham, Chad Elbert Gibson, Jessica Dawn Gibson and Cassandra Faye Polach; twenty two great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis Delano and Joann Eickelman of Valier, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Maynard Eickelman.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Henry Crippen officiating.
Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
