Wanda June Hubbell, 75, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:54 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born June 2, 1942 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Homer and Nellie (Champion) Lupardus.
She married Jack Howard Hubbell on December 4, 1964 at Second Baptist Church in Granite City and he survives.
She retired from the Granite City School District #9 after many years of dedicated and loving service as a teacher’s aide.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was active with many committees and events. She enjoyed her days of traveling, bowling and playing softball. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Rodger Wilson of Bolingbrook, Illinois; a stepson, Jeff Hubbell of Smithboro, Illinois; two grandchildren and their spouses, Adam and Megan Wilson and Hannah and David Anderson; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Hank Wilson and Levi Anderson; two sisters, Jackie Woods of Granite City and Loretta Purdy of Petersburg, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Vivian Dine, Homer Lupardus, Charles Lupardus, Lucille Daniels, Norma Tolbert, Archie Lupardus and Lenese Kallenbach.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Second Baptist Church, 2100 Illinois Avenue in Granite City on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Brian Smith officiating.
Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church.
