Wallace “Wally” Vernon Weidner, age 99, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Granite Nursing and Rehab Center, Granite City, IL. Wally was born on December 28, 1918 in St. Louis, MO., a son of the late Edward Weidner and Dorothy (Eilers) Ceh.

On June 16, 1941, Wally married Ileen Mae Edwards, the love of his life, in Hillsboro, MO. Ileen passed away on January 9, 2005. Wally retired from Ultra-Life Laboratories as an office manager after many years of dedicated service. He was mechanically inclined and he could fix or repair just about anything. Wally enjoyed playing cards, riding his Indian Chief Motorcycle and Indian Scout Motorcycle. He also enjoyed spending time at his club house on the Illinois River in Nutwood, IL. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Wally loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wally was preceded in death by his stepfather, Victor Ceh; and by his brothers, William Weidner and Marion “Butz” Weidner.

He is survived by his loving children, Janet Weidner of Jefferson City, MO, Jean Stokes of Jefferson City, MO, Wally (Julie) Weidner of Granite City, IL and Mary Jane (Norbert) Hummert of St. Libory, IL; proud grandfather to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Irwin Chapel. Wally will be laid to rest next to Ileen at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to St. John’s Home & Community Care, Collinsville, IL or to S.A.V.E. in Belleville, IL. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
