Virginia Mary Wickham, age 84, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side. Virginia was born on March 2, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL,
Virginia was a graduate of St. Teresa's Academy, graduating in 1948. On September 7, 1957, Virginia Baker married William L. Wickham, the love of her life in Caseyville, IL and he passed away on January 8, 2009. She was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, IL. Virginia enjoyed taking care of her family and friends; she was always there if someone needed help. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren whom she adored. Virginia will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Baker and Rita (Kelley) Baker O'Hara; stepfather, Daniel O'Hara; and her brother-in-law, Warren Baumgartner.
She is survived by her loving children, Bill Wickham of Hernando, MS and Patty (Bill) Stone of Glen Carbon, IL; sister, Peggy Baumgartner of Caseyville, IL; grandmother to Ariel Wickham, Jessica Smith, Hope Smith, Chris Stone and Holly Stone; great-grandmother to Hailee Stone, Madelyn Stone, William Joe Stone, Skylee Stone, Carter Jones and Lorelei Lampe;
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Glen Carbon, IL with Father Al Allen officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband in Glen Carbon City Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given in the form of masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
