Virginia Alvina Garcia, age 63, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, IL. Virginia was born on January 19, 1954 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Damasio “Danny” Vasquez and Gertrude (Ibarra) Vasquez.
Virginia was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She also enjoyed cleaning and cooking. Virginia loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Garcia; children, Adrian Vasquez, Amelia Vasquez, Veronica Garcia, Melissa Garcia, Michael Vasquez, Monica Vasquez, Charles Vasquez, Julia Vasquez, Amanda Vasquez and Poncho Garcia; four brothers; six sisters; many grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to the family and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
