Terry Balcer, 65 years, of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at his home on March 21, 2018. An enthusiastic golfer, hopeful tennis player and fabulous cook, Terry loved music and the Caribbean, and lived life to its fullest. He had a successful sales career, culminating with 15 years at Eagle Tubular Products, Inc., Alton, IL., where he also established and then managed the fabrication operations for many years.
Born September 16, 1952 to Joseph Balcer and Adele Balcer (nee Serwatka) in Granite City, he is survived by sons Christian, of Parker, Colorado; Andrew (Andrea) of St. Louis; Michael (Kelsey) of Peoria, Illinois., and two granddaughters and two grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Joe (Catharine Garber), of Alexandria, Virginia; sisters Sharon (Walt) Smoski, of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Cindy (Robert) Dorsey of Wildwood, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry had an array of friends, not only in St. Louis but across the country. Business relationships often evolved into friendships with those who appreciated his edgy sense of humor and unconventional life view. His family appreciates the outreach to and support of Terry by his many friends in his last days, and especially that of Marina Kurfman and Judy and John Kuhl, who were there for him in so many ways.
A memorial gathering will be held on April 14th, from noon to 4 p.m., at Irwin Chapel on 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the David C. Pratt Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital, 607 S. New Ballas Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.
