Sandra "Sandy" Batiste, age 56, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Sandy was born on August 25, 1959, in Selma, AL, a daughter to Gene Weathers and Erna (Fischer) Kientzle.
Sandy had graduated from Granite City South High School in 1979. On November 24, 2007, Sandra Weathers; married Eugene Batiste, the love of her life, in Madison, IL. Sandy had retired from DISC Corporation Inc. as an office administrator, after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of Amvets Auxiliary Post #204 in Madison, IL. Sandy enjoyed going to flea markets with her mother and spending time with her family, especially with her nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Sandy loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Batiste of Granite City, IL; loving mother and step-father, Erna and Mark Kientzle of Granite City, IL; loving father and step-mother, Gene and Margie Weathers of Bay Minette, AL; sisters and brothers, Michelle (Scott) Ward of Granite City, IL, Robert (Sharron Morris) Kientzle of Granite City, IL, Micheal (Janice) Weathers of Blue Mound, IL, Sheila (Todd) Richey of Granite City, IL and Karleigh Block of Theodore, AL; step-children, Michael (Sarah) Batiste of Los Angeles, CA, Kassandra (Daniel) Milkewicz of Coplay, PA and Christopher "Scotty" Batiste, in the United States Navy; step-granddaughter, Nichole Milkewicz; proud aunt to David, Joshua, Paul, Jason, Elizabeth, Ashley, Noelle, Danielle, Heather, Kimi, Thomas, Chris and Melanie; proud great-aunt to, Emily and Jason Jr; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Irwin Chapel, with Rev. Paul Martin officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
Memorial donations may be given to the Leukemia Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
