Obituary

Robert E. “Bob” Boyles, 83 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Bob was born on August 24, 1933 in Granite City, Illinois the son of the late Claude M. and Frieda Boyles. Bob worked at Granite City Steel as a crane operator for 43 years, retiring in 1996. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Bob’s greatest joy was his family and they will remember him for all the special times they shared together.

Bob is survived by and will be missed by his daughter; Amy (Clayton) Beatty of Granite City, Illinois; his son, Robert L. (Meredith) Boyles of Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren, Ethan Beatty, Isaac Beatty of Granite City, Illinois.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife; Charlotte (Hallows) Boyles, whom he married on June 24, 1967.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of Bob’s life, services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Alan Beuster officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials in Bob’s memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
