Robert “Bob” J. Tillman, age 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Edwardsville, IL. Bob was born on July 22, 1936 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late August Tillman and Sophie (Vanoskey) Tillman Durrant.

Bob was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country. On May 6, 1962, Bob married Shirley Deason, the love of his life, in Granite City, IL. He had retired from the Granite City Army Depot as a construction inspector after many years of dedicated service. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed fishing and racing stock cars. Since growing up in the Southside of Chicago, Bob became an avid Chicago White Sox fan. After moving to Granite City, IL, he became a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, as long as the Cardinals were not playing the Chicago White Sox. He was also a St. Louis Blues Hockey fan and he enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with his friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family; Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and attending their school and sporting events. Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul Durrant.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Tillman of Granite City, IL; loving children, Deborah (Rick Fulton) Long of Smithton, IL and Michelle (Chris) Foppe of Belleville, IL; dear brother, Paul Durrant of Las Vegas, NV; proud grandfather to Nicholas Foppe and Noah Foppe; extended family and many friends.

Visitation will held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.
