Ralph Norman Weiss, 98, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born February 9, 1919 in Carbondale, Illinois, a son of the late Ralph and Viola (Jones) Weiss.
He married his first wife, Delia Tripp. He married Mildred (Stacy) Weiss in 1976 and she passed away in 2006. He later married Mary Ann (Dulle) Swip Weiss on October 20, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Waterloo and she survives.
The United States Air Force veteran proudly served his country during World War II and was the recipient of the American Theatre ribbon, Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory medal.
He was employed as an over the road truck driver for 33 years and later retired in 1995 as a real estate broker after 19 years of service.
He was a member of the Bluffview Baptist Church in Collinsville, Glen Carbon American Legion, Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 and the Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies Valley of Southern Illinois. Ralph enjoyed his days of traveling, painting art, playing cards and dancing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Loretta and Charles Hall of Racine, Wisconsin and Carolyn Pastore of Montpelier, Vermont; stepchildren and their spouses, Lesslie Swip, Loretta and Gary Jenkins, Margaret and Bryon Phillips, Joseph and Rebecca Swip and Robert Swip; step daughter-in-law, Kathryn Cook; grandchildren, Dennis Armistead, Roger Pastore and Dr. Gina Pastore; many other grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
In addition to his former wife, Mildred and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harold Pastore; a brother, Leonard H. Weiss and two sisters, Mildred L. Hanson and June Hoss.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Roger Wright officiating.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at the Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to 3 Little Birds 4 Life or to Bluffview Baptist Church in Collinsville and may be accepted at the funeral home.
