Patricia Joyce Maxwell, 80, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at her home.
She was born May 19, 1937 in Madison, Illinois, a daughter of the late Edward Clay and Ida (Scoggins) Howland.
She married James Jerald Maxwell on February 14, 1953 and he passed away on August 30, 1999.
She was a loving homemaker whom was dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her days of working with crafts and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott J. and Angie Maxwell of Granite City, Todd J. Maxwell of St. Louis and Eric J. Maxwell of Granite City; three daughters and a son-in-law, Connie J. and Frank Crook of Worden, Robin J. Seley of Granite City and Gayla J. Maxwell of Granite City; eight grandchildren, Ericka, Matthew, Lindsey, Nicholas, Jacob, Brady, Cameron and Cole; five great grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, Wyatt, Kiera and Cannon; three sisters, Priscilla Awalt of Granite City, Sheila Chronister of Granite City and Ginger Howland of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Glenn Maxwell; six brothers, Luther, John, Ronald, Charlie, Wayne and Larry Howland and three sisters, Charlotte Minks, Maxine Jurgena, Marilyn Howland and Anita Howland.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 wiith Reverend Henry Crippen officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and may be accepted at the funeral home.
