Norman S. Wood 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Mr. Wood was born on January 31, 1920 in Pomona, Illinois a son of the late Lloyd & Edna (Cochran) Wood. Mr. Wood worked as an auto body mechanic and retired in 1978 with over forty years of service, after retirement he worked for Hudson Jewelers in Granite City for over 20 years. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Wood River, Illinois; Mechanics Local District 9 I.A. of M. & A.W., he had many hobbies and a passion for model trains. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Melba (Stegelmeyer) Wood; brothers Gene Wood, Wilber Wood; sister Betty Ebling. He is survived by his daughter Carol & Jerry Wilson of Granite City, IL; Brother David Wood of Edwardsville, IL; sisters Judy Wood of Madison, IL, Shirley Rzonca of San Lorenzo, California; granddaughter Rebekah & Kenneth Britt of Granite City, IL; great grandchildren Jonathan, Douglas, Katie Britt; beloved pet dog Zoey; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
