Nina Marie Hull, 93, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
She was born September 18, 1924 in Irondale, Missouri, a daughter of the late Nellie Mae Stout and was raised by her grandmother, Lillie Mae Buxton.
She married Stanley Lewis Hull on January 23, 1943 in Caledonia, Missouri and he passed away on March 1, 1999.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and had dedicated over 50 years of service to The Salvation Army. She was active with the Salvation Army Women’s League and had previously served as secretary and was a Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed her days of sewing, crocheting, reading and traveling.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel L. and Angie Hull of Granite City, Samuel L. and Rita Hull of Greenville and Richard F. and Peggy Hull of Granite City; a daughter and her boyfriend, Mary E. Knowlton and David Phelps of Granite City; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by two daughters, and sons-in-law, Augustia Mae and Jerry Bristol and Fairy and Audie Greer; a son, Elmer L. Hull; one grandson and three great grandchildren.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery in Caledonia, Missouri on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Major Elmer Trapp will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Granite City Salvation Army and may be accepted at the funeral home.
