Nina Dimple Allen, age 74, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Nina was born on July 24, 1944 in Mississippi, a daughter of the late Leonard Ingram and Ethel (Burns) Ingram.
On August 12, 1967, Nina married John W. Allen, the love of her life at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. John passed away on March 13, 2015. Nina was a faithful member and former Sunday school teacher at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She retired from the Human Resource Department at Ameren after many years of dedicated service. Nina enjoyed shopping, reading, and watching a good movie at home or at a theatre. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she adored and going to church. Nina will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nina was preceded in death by her sister, Nelda Schuchardt, brother, Frank Ingram; and by her sister-in-law, Barbara Stawiszynski.
She is survived by her loving sister, Clabbie (Harry) Briggs of Granite City, IL; dear sisters-in-law, Bonnie Logsdon of Granite City, IL and Kathy Giggins of McKinney, TX; dear brothers-in-law, Don Schuchardt of St. Charles, MO and Ethan (Anne) Allen of Madison, AL; proud aunt to Harry Briggs III, Kyle Briggs, Mark (Kathy) Schuchardt, Mark Carroll, Scott Carroll, Todd Carroll, Laurie McFalls, Douglas Allen, Jeffrey Logsdon, Lynnette Hardman and Craig Campbell; proud great-aunt to Jordan Briggs, Madeline Schuchardt, Colin Schuchardt, Nicole Renner, Callie Carroll, Carley Carroll, Nicholas Allen, Jillian Allen, Benjamin Allen, Cassie Allen, Evan Logsdon, Mack Percy, Randy Gearghty, Jacob Hardman and Matthew Campbell; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, with Rev. Ben Ritz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Emmanuel Baptist Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
