Mary Jane Wade, 82 of Glen Carbon, Illinois, formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
Mary was born on September 24, 1935 in Granite City, Illinois; the daughter of the late Floyd and Florence (Lovvern) Gilbert. Mary retired as the Vice President of US Bank and in her early years was a computer programmer at Ralston Purina. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville where she was a money counter and a member of the L.W.M.L. In her free time Mary enjoyed her days of spending time with her family and being active at her church. She will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.
Mary is survived by and will be missed by her son; Scott A. (Ann) Wade of Troy, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wade of Collinsville, Illinois; sister-in-law, Georgiana Schrumpf; grandchildren, Kristen (Todd) Love, Trevor (Jen) Wade, Patrick Wade (Emily Ulrich), John Wade, Joseph Wade; great-grandchildren, Paige Wade, Holly Green, Abigail Love, Isabella Love, Gage Wade, Knox Wade, Wren Wade, Zane Wade and numerous nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband; Roger L. Wade, whom she married on April 13, 1957; her son, David L. Wade; brothers, Gerald Gilbert, William (Gladys) Gilbert, Arlie Gilbert; sisters, Helen (Ray) Stumpe, Mildred (Stanley) Groboski.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of her life, visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 Beltline Road in Collinsville with Pastor Michael P. Walther officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial donations in Mary’s honor may be made to the Granite City A.P.A. or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
