Mary Ballentine, 89 of Madison passed from this life on Friday, August 19, 2011 at her home with her daughter by her side. Mary was born in Madison on June 19, 1922 to Kosta & Mary Frances Vasiloff. She was a lifelong homemaker, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #307, past president of Salon Party #53. She will be remembered for the love of her family and the times spent together. She is survived by and will be missed by her daughter, Maryann Ballentine of Madison; brother, John Vasiloff of Granite City; sister, Catherine Heiple of Coulterville, IL; 4 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Ballentine Sr.; sons, John Ballentine, Harold Ballentine Jr., brother, George Vasiloff; 2 sisters, Rose Mary Prazma, Ann Breeden and her parents. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
