Marlen Vincent Perkins, 76, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
He was born June 28, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of the late Michael and Cecilia (Tobben) Perkins.
He married Barbara P. (Franklin) Perkins on June 10, 1960 at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and she survives.
He retired as a supervisor in 2004 from GS Robins in St. Louis after 28 years of dedicated service. Marlen was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus Tri-Cities Council #1098. He was also a member of the Granite City Moose Lodge and enjoyed his days of woodworking.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Harley Black of Granite City; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jed (Brandi Kirkbride) Perkins of Millstadt, Illinois, Craig and Terry Perkins of Granite City and Douglas and Kristy Perkins of Granite City; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, LaVern Mull of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Perkins and two sisters, Marybeth Reagan and Mildred Williams.
In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with Father Zachary Edgar as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
