Margie Dell Stavely, age 85, of Granite City, IL, passed away on December 1, 2017 at Fountain View Manor, Granite City, IL. Margie was born on August 26, 1932 in Stewart County, TN, a daughter of the late Will Henry Wallace and Roberta (Hildreth) Wallace.
On October 13, 1953, Margie married Charles Norman Stavely, the love of her life. She was a faithful member of Solid Rock Free Methodist Church in Pontoon Beach, IL. Margie was also a member of Gideons International. Margie retired from Shell Oil Corporation as a nurse after many years of dedicated service. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Margie loved life, she love to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her brother, Dell Wallace; and by two sisters, Louise Pulley and Imogene Milton.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Charles Stavely of Granite City, IL; loving children, Norm Stavely of Granite City, IL and Beverly Joann (Richard) Thomas of Hodges, SC; dear sister, Freda Kirksey; proud grandmother to Nicholas Thomas, Kyle Thomas and Rachel Johnso; proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Javier Quintana officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to the Gideons. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
