Mrs. Lucy Kate Howard Adams, 91, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at Hidden Lake-Aperion Nursing Home in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend.
Mrs. Adams was born on March 19, 1926 in Dover, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Link) Howard.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City and enjoyed her days of cooking and quilting.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Cyril Howard, Lyra Howard, Orman Howard, Robert Howard, and Lynn Howard and sisters Hazel Howard Sykes and Hessie Howard.
She married Preston “Pete” Adams on September 15, 1942 in Charleston, Missouri and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1998.
She was the mother of two children Brenda Adams Caito and Jacqueline Adams Mink. She was the mother-in-law to William Caito and Michael Mink. She was the grandmother of Michael (Lisa) York and Craig (Kathy) York, Danielle Mink Armstrong, Gabrielle Mink, Joseph Mink and Alexander Mink. She was the great-grandmother of Jessica York, Aaron York, Jacob York, Devon, Dante, and Desmond Armstrong and Gunner Donati. She was the sister of Deane (Dick) Howard Davis, and sister-in-law of Mitzi Howard and Richard Davis. She was the aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Illinois on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
Those wishing to make a donation are asked to do so to the Miracle Ear Foundation who provided hearing aids to Mrs. Adams. The foundation will use the donation to help others receive hearing aids.
