Corbet “Leon” Wallace, 80, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 15, 1937 in Stewart County, Tennessee, a son of the late Newell and Flossie (Powers) Wallace.
He retired as an automobile technician. Leon enjoyed his days of fishing and tending to his yard and had a special love of vintage cars and antiques. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by five children, Brenda Knight of Decatur, Dennis Wallace of Granite City, Rick (Sylvia Travis) Wallace of Granite City, Jeff Wallace of Granite City and Stacie Sandella of Granite City; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Evon Whitford of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his life partner, Catherine Sailor and siblings, Otis Wallace, Ophie Tift, Linda Dowdy, Carl Edward and two infants.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Illinois on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Reverend Henry Crippen officiating.
Burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville.
