Lawrence Charles “Larry” Modene, 69, of St. Charles, Missouri passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home.
He was born April 17, 1948 in Highland, Illinois, a son of Charles Edward and Rose Theresa (Sasek) Modene.
He married Joan C. (Fults) Modene on November 17, 1973 in Clayton, Missouri and she survives.
He had worked for Halben Foods in St. Louis with service in computer support. He had received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from U.M.S.L. on August 9, 1987.
He enjoyed reading and music and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He had a love for animals and cherished his cat, Sammi. He will be remembered for his passion of barbecuing, and his tradition and talent will be passed down for generations to come.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 44 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Brent Toso of St. Charles, Missouri and Michelle and Bernie Brown of San Diego, California; a sister, Mary E. Modene of Glen Carbon; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Tony, Johnny, Angela and Carlos, Michael and Megan, Joshua and Lena, Ashley and Scott, Stephen, Michael and Jacob; six great grandchildren, Chloe, Kristina, Adrian, Emilio, Lily and Madison; aunts, Gloria Sasek of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Katherine Modene of Glen Carbon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Dan Goodfellow of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; numerous cousins; other extended family and cherished friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Modene and two uncles, Lawrence Sasek and William Modene.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 155 North Main Street in Glen Carbon, Illinois on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Patrick Gibbons as celebrant.
Burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Seasons Hospice or to masses and may be accepted at the funeral home.
