Kermit E. White, 80, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at Anderson Hospital in Maryville on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was born May 7, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, a son of the late Max and Ova (Voyles) White.

He married Joann (Gee) White in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1955. He later married Naomi K. (Cauble) White on August 29, 1958 in Granite City and she survives. He retired in 1990 from McDonnell Douglas after 35 years of dedicated service as an engineer in the Aerospace Industry. He returned back in 1991 to work as a consultant for Boeing until his second retirement in 1999. The United States Marine Corp veteran proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Kermit was a 32 degree member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge and the Ainad Shriners. He also enjoyed ushering at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis for 10 years. He was an artist and enjoyed his days of working and landscaping his yard and was an avid sports fan. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and especially following his grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey K. and Sasithron White of South County, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy A. and Scott Klaustermeier of Edwardsville; five grandchildren, Jaclyn, Heather, Benjamin, Kara and Max; six great grandchildren, Payton, Lane, Matthew, Tayler, Ava and Carter; numerous nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin White and one sister, Elaine Maurer.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Steffaniak officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Lung Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
