John Robert “Johnny” Beil, 84, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his home.
He was born March 21, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fehrenbach) Beil.
He married Lucille Ann “Lucy” (Zimmerman) Beil on April 26, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in South St. Louis and she survives.
The United States Marine proudly served his country during the Korean War.
He had worked for Uniway Incorporated with over 25 years of service in sales. He and his wife had owned and operated Rivers Edge Campground in Lesterville, Missouri from 1984 until 1993. He then went to work and was employed at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville as the Director of Maintenance with 25 years of dedicated service.
He was a faithful member of Mother of Perpetual Help Church where he was instrumental in opening the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration along with Fr. Quilligan. He was a member of the Order of Secular Franciscans and the Collinsville Knights of Columbus Council 1712.
Johnny enjoyed life to the fullest, taking with him many special times and memories of his family and his church.
In addition to his beloved wife of 64 years, he is survived by four sons; a daughter and two daughters-in-law, John Beil of Collinsville, Joseph and Cynthia Beil of Fayatteville, Arkansas, James Beil of St. Louis and Jeffrey and Sherry Beil of Pontoon Beach; Tina Beil of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gerard Beil; two brothers, Joseph Beil and William “Happy” Beil and a sister, Mary "Chris" Patrick.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Joseph Havrilka as celebrant and Father Jeff Holtman concelebrating.
Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to Mother of Perpetual Help Church or to Blinded Veterans Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.
