Jerry Eugene Webb
June 25, 1949 - June 4, 2019
Jerry Webb passed away at his home in Granite City, IL on June 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 25, 1949 in St. Louis the son of Phylis Dement Scott and George Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, James Webb, James Porter, Gary Scott and Sammy Scott.
Surviving are his loving wife, Kathleen Webb; his step-father, Kenneth Scott; four siblings, Nina Fisher, Pat Parton (Frank), Kenny Scott and Yvonne Whittington (David); four children, Patricia Mousette (Kevin), Joanna Webb-Gauvin (Scott), Derrick Webb and Darrin Webb as well as the eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, many loving brothers and sisters-in-law and countless nieces and nephews.
Jerry was an avid lover of music and a US Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. Jerry Webb dedicated much of his life to helping others and ensuring people had a path to live life with dignity by earning a living wage. Jerry held many jobs. He was employed by the Granite City School District #9 for nearly forty years where he served as President of SEIU Local #98 even after retirement. For more than 30 years, Jerry taught heating, air conditioning and refrigeration at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), formerly known as Belleville Area College, where he mentored countless students. Jerry also operated Webb’s Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration where on many occasions he never charged customers in need for services performed. Jerry is remembered by family and friends as a generous, kind and loving man who never met a stranger.
Friends and family are encouraged to pay their respects on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Irwin Chapel from 5-8pm 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, IL. Funeral services will commence at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Irwin Chapel 3960 Maryville Road. Military burial following at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO.
