James Thomas “Tom” Dudley, 99 of Granite City passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
James was born on March 3, 1920 in Montpelier, KY; the son of the late Jan Vetter and Eliza Margaret (Haynes) Dudley. James was a welder and owner and operator of Dudley Radiator and Welding for over 35 years in Madison. He was a member of Pontoon Beach Christian Church where he served as an elder, a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as a volunteer on the Long Lake Fire Department. Most of all James loved to spend time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
James is survived by and will be missed by his children; Rebecca “Becky” Darr of Dolan Springs, AZ, Timothy J. “Tim” Dudley of Kenner, LA; grandchildren, Michael Edwards, Christopher Edwards, Lucas Edwards, John Dudley, Luke Dudley; great-grandchildren, Kiersen Edwards, Luke Edwards; niece, Barbara Ann Andrew; great-nephew, Billy Dean Andrew.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Turner) Dudley whom he married in September, 1941.
Friends may call on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Noble officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL..
