James "Larry" Baumhardt, 71 of Granite City, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Larry was born on July 8, 1943 in Polar Bluff, MO; a son to the late Leo and Dorothy Virginia (Marlar) Baumhardt McCallister. Larry had worked for General Motors Corporation in the production of their Corvette. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and in his free time he loved to ride his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times he shared with family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Cynthia (Vaughn) Baumhardt, whom he married on October 9, 1982; his daughters, Tonya and (Todd) Perotka of Tomball, TX, Lindy and (Stacy) Vaughn of Ft. Worth, TX; brother, Kenneth McCallister of Granite City; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-dad; George McCallister and his brother, Doug McCallister.
In celebration of Larry's life friends may gather on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials are suggested to the charity of one's choice.
