James Anthony Cox, age 47, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at his mother’s home in Troy, IL, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on November 15, 1971 in Centreville, IL.
On April 11, 2009, James married Heather Jones in Troy, IL. James worked as a fork lift driver for Federal Express in Edwardsville, IL. James was an outdoorsman who loved going fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing pool, dancing and singing karaoke. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. James loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Heather Cox of Granite City, IL; loving children, Justin Anthony Cox of Poplar Bluff, MO, Collin Cox of Kansas City, MO, Dakota Cox of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer (Bob) Larkins of Poplar Bluff, MO and Jessica Armes of Poplar Bluff, MO; mother and stepfather, Linda and Bryan Johnson of Troy, IL; father and stepmother, James Alvin Cox and Ann Cox of East St. Louis, IL; grandmother, Viola Sexton of Troy, IL; proud grandfather to Nevaeh, Cayden, Alexander, Naomi, Jaycee and Dain; special cousin, Mark Horton of Edwardsville, IL; dear friend, Betty Briggs of Poplar Bluff, MO; mother-in-law, Brenda Pulley of Granite City, IL; uncle, Mike Sexton; many cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.
In celebration of his life, memorial services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral chapel.
Memorial donations may be given to Vitas Hospice. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
