Ina Dynese “Nanny” LeGrand, 98, of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:43 a.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the Altenheim Health and Living in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born September 23, 1918 in Elsinore, Missouri, a daughter of the late James and Bethel (Stephens) Moore.
She married Elvis J. LeGrand on April 3, 1937 in Madison County, Illinois and he passed away in May 1979.
She was a bookkeeper and along with her husband were the owner and operator of Al’s TV in Granite City for many years. She was a house mother at Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Illinois. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and University of Illinois basketball fan. Ina was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite City, enjoyed her days of quilting and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Joe LeGrand of Florida; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Susan Cotter of Glen Carbon, Gregory Cotter of St. Louis, Valerie and Jeff Arendt of Cary, North Carolina, Todd and Nicole LeGrand of Indianapolis, Indiana, Chapen and Alex Smith; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many beloved nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Crockarell; a son, James LeGrand; a sister, Norah Halvachs and three brothers, Bryce Moore, James Ronald Moore and Edgar Moore.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 2600 Edwards Street in Granite City at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 with Daniel Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
