Hedy Rose Barth, nee, Reznack, age 95, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Mary Queen and Mother Center, St. Louis, MO. Hedy was born on December 31, 1921 in Cerova-Lieskove, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late Vance and Mary Reznack and she immigrated to the United States in 1937.
Hedy married Charles W. Barth of St. Louis, MO in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish, Ladies Sodality and St. Louis University High School Alumni Mothers Club. She was also a Pro-Life volunteer and auxiliary member of Our Lady's Inn in St. Louis, MO, volunteer at the Cenacle Retreat House and a member of the St. Louis Cathedral Legion of Mary. Hedy had worked as a medical secretary for many years before retiring. Her greatest joys were going to church and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hedy was preceded in death by her siblings, Victor, Louis and Mary.
She is survived by her loving children, John Barth of Granite City, IL, Dr. Charles (Grace) Barth of Leawood, KS, Michael Barth of Granite City, IL, Christopher (Linda) Barth of Ballwin, MO, Dr. Gregory (Maureen) Barth of St. Paul, MN, Dr. Margaret (Thomas) Lindsay of Austin, TX and Mary Ellen (Craig) van Keulen of Morgan Hill, CA; brother, Andrew Reznack of Whittier, CA; proud grandmother to twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church with Father Chris Comerford officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Saint John Paul II Life Center, 1600 West 38th Street, Suite 115, Austin, TX 78731and donations will be accepted at the church.
