Harold P. Bald, 79, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. He was born March 6, 1932 in Lenzburg, Illinois, a son of the late William Charles and Lizzie (Fett) Bald.
He married Tommie "Jean" (Jones) Bald on November 28, 1959 in East St. Louis and she survives.
He had worked at A.O. Smith for 26 years and retired from Metals USA in 2002 after many years of dedicated service as a welder. The United States Army veteran was a faithful member of the Apostolic Revival Church in Highland and was a dedicated partner in education with Liberty Christian Academy in Granite City. He enjoyed taking journeys on his bicycle, leatherwork and photography and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of 52 years, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Gary Fuller of Granite City, Terri and John Pejakovich of Fort Worth, Texas and Dawn and Michael Stofel of Granite City; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Eric Calbreath, Lauren Calbreath, Ashlee and Andrew Newbury, Candice and Ray Gaudette, Erin Calbreath, Brandon Fuller, Cameron Stofel and Clayton Stofel; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Hilda Lowrey, Ralph Bald, Norine Kessler, Albert Bald and Pearl Arras.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Frank Crossin Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Christian Academy, 4300 Maryville Road, Granite City, Illinois 62040 and may be accepted at the funeral home.
