Glenn A. Wolfe, 88 of Collinsville, formerly of Granite City passed from this life on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville with his family by his side. Glenn was born on June 9, 1924 in Granite City. He was the President and Owner of M.H. Wolfe Construction Company in Granite City. He was a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church; Elks Lodge 1063 in Granite City; proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II; a board member of the Granite City Trust & Savings; a board member of the Southern Illinois Builders Association and in his free time loved to play golf. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, his generosity to others, his honesty and the many good times shared with his family.
He is survived by and will be missed by his loving wife; Diane (Teetor) Wolfe, whom he married on April 9, 1983; son, George G. & (Donna) Wolfe of Granite City; daughters, Carol Lee Farnsworth of Granite City, Cindi Blackford of Alton, IL; step-daughter, Cindy & (Scott) Boeser of Worden, IL; step-son, Mike & (Cathy) Pritchard of Granite City; 8 grandchildren, Leigh, Maureen, Holly, Glenn, George, Aaron, Chelsy, Michael; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, George & Jack Wolfe; his cats, Gracie, Sam & Daisy. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife; Ginny Wolfe; his parents, Morris H. & Gertrude (Freeman) Wolfe; sisters, Ruth Abbott, Murial Lindsay; brothers, Robert & Freeman.
In celebration of his life friends may call on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services to begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Clint Wisdom officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon with military rites. Memorials are suggested to the Granite City A.P.A.
