George Franklin "Spider" Arnold, 70, of Bethalto and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home. He was born March 5, 1942 in Granite City. He married Marion F. (Lindsey) Arnold on June 1, 1968 at Trinity Tabernacle in Madison and she survives.
He was a leatherworker with Herman Oak Leather in St. Louis. He was a member of Trinity Tabernacle in Madison and River of Life Family Church in Alton and attended City Temple in Granite City. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons, Danny (Sharon) Arnold of Mehlville, Missouri and Benjamin Arnold of Bethalto; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Amber, Jessica, Connie, Johnny, Christine, Justin and Kassandra; three great grandchildren, Isaiah, Will and Kingstyn; one sister, Ada (Ora) Tindall of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Arnold and Gladys (Bunnell) Ray; stepfather, Luther Ray; granddaughter, Monica; three brothers, William, Lawrence and Benny Wade Arnold and two sisters, Betty VanGilder and Marcella Staggs.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Pastor Rich Cope officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be accepted at the funeral home.
