Obituary

Frank J. Juhasz, age 96, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Rosewood Care Center, Edwardsville, IL. Frank was born on May 4, 1923 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late John Juhasz Sr. and Julia Juhasz.

Frank was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. On May 1, 1948, Frank married Mary Wiezer, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Mary passed away on April 19, 2006. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, IL. Frank retired as a switchman from Granite City Steel after many years of dedicated service. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Frank will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Juhasz, sister, Mary Vizer; brother, John Juhasz Jr., and by a son-in-law, Jerry Mudd.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Frances Mudd of Granite City, IL, Kathryn (Darrel) Kraus of Memphis, MO and Mary (Peter) Giczewski of South Bend, IN; proud grandfather to Lisa Niemeyer, Kevin (Jimmye) Kraus, Michael (Katie) Kraus, Gregory (Lorraine) Kraus and John (Brittany) Giczewski; proud great-grandfather to Maverick Murray, Mitchel Kraus, Keith Kraus, Hailey Kraus, Jewley Kraus, Mia Giczewski, Reese Giczewski, Abby Kraus and Oliver Grub; extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City, IL, with Father Jeff Holtman officiating. Frank will be laid to rest next to Mary at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs, MO, Granite City A.P.A or to Holy Family Catholic Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
