Floyd E. "Radio" Williams Sr. 73 of Granite City passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.
Floyd was born on February 25, 1943 in Granite City; the son of the late Clyde and Juanita (Warden) Williams. Floyd was a long time crane operator at American Steel and served his country in the United States Navy. Floyd never met a stranger and his friends and family gave him the nick name of "Radio" because of his enjoyment of conversation.
Floyd is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Hannah (Hensler) whom he married on August 12, 1964; his daughter, Shelly and (Timothy) Smith of Florence, AL; his grandchildren, Bridget Bain, Brooke Bain, Scott Williams Jr., Ethan Williams, Sara Smith, Kaitlyn Smith; his brother, James and (Ann) Williams; his sister, Joyce Rodgers.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his sons; Floyd E. Williams Jr. and Scott Williams Sr.; his brother, Leroy Williams.
In celebration of Floyd's life, friends may call on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
