Everett Dewayne Young, 72, of Granite City, Illinois and formerly of Summersville, Missouri passed away at 2:59 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 21, 1944 in Sacramento, California, a son of Wayne and Olive (Pitts) Young of Summersville, Missouri.
He married Geraldine (Golden) Young on February 27, 1963 in Lowndes, Missouri and she survives.
He retired in 2004 from Granite City Steel after over 40 years of dedicated service in the Glass Furnace as a steelworker.
He loved his days of antiquing and was very talented with restoring furniture and other treasures. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Mary Young of Granite City and Shawn and Laura Young of Granite City; a grandson, Ryan Young of Granite City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dean and Myrtle Young of Summersville and Ronnie Young of Summersville; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Young.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Maynard officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be accepted at the funeral home.
